In 2000 A.D. Ton Van Der Kop’s dream to summit Mt. Everest  failed and he reached Duble village. After reaching there and being with the village folks his mind changed and getting back home in Netherland he founded a co-operative, Milijuli. This institution has worked and contributed in the various sector as education in Duble, the Sherpa people and remote parts of Okhaldhunga district. We met two members Mr. Jan JPM wullems Miss Anita JPM Wullems, both government service holders of the same NGO on the festival of Holi. Putting aside their social work for some time and they were about to return home. During this short stay in Kathmandu Mr. Jiwan Sharma had a brief talk with them together with Mr. Ek Raj Adhikary the Secretary of REBAN.

Q:  How did you choose Nepal and too to help remote areas?
My uncle wanted to climb and at that time Kami Sherpa was his     porter.  He could not climb mountain because he fell sick.  Kami Sherpa took him to his home in Duble in his village and  treated him wel. And he got cured. He was amazed at the hospitality of the Nepalese and such a friendly treatment he received. Then he decided that he should help Nepal in return.
Q:  What kinds of help do you do in that area?
We are helping there not only in school but the entire village. We have helped to build the physical structures give trainings to the teachers and now we are going to train the farmers in the agriculture sector.
Q:  What kind of impact do you expect through your help in that area?    Do you think that some kind of impact has been already seen?
When one does something one definitely expects result.  we also definitely  have found the results. We wanted to see the changes and it’s happening. Any changes is a gradual and it takes time. We had trained the students about primary health care and now they are teaching others and they do it themselves.
Q: Your organization is registered In the Netherland, and have been focusing Nepal. Do you have any further plan to extend to other countries too?
Yes, Milijuli is registered in the Netherland.  Our main objective is to help Nepal. In reality Nepal is our second home. We extend our help within Nepal only.
Q:  How many people are involved in your organization?
We are five now.  Jan JPM wullems, Anita JPM, Otto
Plantema, Paul Latten and  Ton Van Der Kop. But extend our membership.
Q: What are the differences you find in your country and Nepal?
There is a big difference. Obvisously difference in language and culture  makes a big difference in anything.  Education, health and transportation facilities have not reached in rural areas yet. But we need never be pessimistic about it.  Gradual development is taking place. Inspite this there are some similarities.
Q  Finally, what would you like convey to Nepalese and Nepal?
We would like to see all round development of Nepal and we immensely respect the warm feeling of Nepalese people.
